Problems in bar?
Love El Rancho Hotel so booked again on my trip to AZ
Not sure what was going on this time with hotel security. Went to the bar and was informed they could Only serve 2 drinks per person. If the hotel is having a problem with the locals they need to figure out better plan where paying hotel guest can enjoy there stay and not be limited.

Fun and nice.
Cool, old , beautiful hotel.
I loved it. I have wanted to stay here for years, and finally had the opportunity to do so. As funky and fun as I had imagined.
Restaurant and bar were good, room was good, bathroom was tiny, but all updated and was fine for a solo traveler. Stay in the annex for the newer, larger rooms, but stay in the historic building for the experience.
Will stay again.

Wonderful historic hotel
This is a wonderful historic hotel in Gallup. The original rooms are not the most spacious rooms but they are updated and clean. I love the history behind the hotel and looking at all the memorabilia on the walls. The staff is super nice!

Bring earplugs or headphones
The hotel was pretty cool. We stayed in the annex motel. It was well decorated, comfy and clean. The staff were nice. Restaurant had yummy dinner. Our only complaint would be the noise. The traffic outside and what sounded like drag racing was a bit much when trying to fall asleep. I also wouldn't recommend looking up the crime rate in Gallup before bed. Everything that was within the hotel's control was great.

Worth a stay
The hotel itself is beautiful and the history behind it is amazing and a must see. Front desk staff was fantastic. The issue we had was the restaurant and the “ historian.”
We had dinner in which I asked for red on my enchiladas, it came out with green instead. Told waitress and she brought it out with red ontop with Parmesan cheese ontop. Cut into it and all they did was pour red ontop of the green. Never seen that.
Also, they shotlet patrons know it’s only a two drink maximum when they get there.
Only was allowed two drinks. Since we were traveling we want to relax for the night.
After dinner we came down to sit by the fire. But were greeted very rudely by an elderly man and the first thing out of his mouth was “there’s not any alcohol in those glasses?” Not even a “hi, my name is….” The bartender mentioned we could take our last drink with us to our room so we did and decided to sit by fire. NOT!!!
So, the rest of the night we felt like we were in jail since we had to stay in our room to finish our drinks. By this time we were so frustrated with everything, we hung out in our room. We came out to look around at the hotel but once again the historian watched our every move. Ridiculous!!
Very sad because the place is stunning and the history behind it is very interesting.
We are from Albuquerque and know all about Gallup and the news it provides.
Still worth a stop, but don’t expect too much from service in the food part.

Wonderful stay in Gallup!
This was a wonderful surprise! I booked the El Rancho because of the many excellent reviews it had received, but our stay was even better than expected. The property is beautiful and fascinating, filled with historic treasures. Dinner at their restaurant was delicious as was breakfast the next morning. All in all, we highly recommend it!

Unique hotel but skip the bar/restaurant
The pictures on the website make this hotel look way better than it is. Cute place and atmosphere but the ac was blowing hot air. Do not go to the bar/restaurant as we faced discrimination and were barely served. That is why my review is worse.
