The impressive: You won’t starve with all the dining options for every budget within walking distance. You can walk to the outlets to shop all day. Easy access to I-75 and Skyway. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet. Housekeeping staff is so pleasant. Breakfast area was stocked and clean. Bathroom toiletries were stocked and full and soaps were high-quality. The pool and deck has great cabanas and umbrella seating.
The disappointing: Personality of woman at check-in was forgettable. Even though my credit card was supplied, they said they charge $10 for “incidentals” up-front. Supposedly it’s refundable (I’ll check) but when I asked about it, she looked at me and responded in a tone as if she’s used to being hassled about it. On 2 occasions, we went to the lobby for ready-brewed 24-hour coffee (we used all the room coffee) and both times, the carafe was empty. We even waited 45 minutes and checked again each night and it was still empty. The AC filters were full of lint and dust. Even though the thermostat was turned to off, it ran no matter.
We would likely stay here again if it was the closest to our destination or for when one of us is left at the hotel without a car (walkable). But considering the cost, it’s clear you’re paying for those conveniences. More likely, our first choice would be a comparable hotel in either direction on 75 for a much lower cost.
