5-star experience in a 3.5-star property

Shelter Cove is an absolute GEM, WAY off the beaten path. The hotel is in a prime location with beautiful views and direct access to black sands beaches, tide pools and even a lighthouse! The hotel is still being renovated, so it's not perfect. But the staff is helpful and the location is wonderful.

This inn is beautiful and the oceanfront room was amazing. There aren’t many amenities and the internet was slow but the sights made up for it and after you go through that treacherous drive to get there it is nice to have a quiet place to rest. The bed was somewhat comfortable. The water pressure wasn’t great. There was one restaurant open the afternoon we arrived so there want much of a choice. The cafe attached to the inn had pretty good breakfast. I would stay there again.

Great location, but disappointing for the price. There were some blinds that were either not fully functioning or were missing. The bed was not comfortable. The deck outside our "apartment" had planks that were broken, making it hazardous if we had brought children with us. The only heating source was an electric fireplace, after finding the thermostat simply clicked but did not function. Aside from these issues, the unit was very clean.

My night at Shelter Cove

We stayed in the jacuzzi room with balcony. Room was nice and clean, balcony view was great, and the Jacuzzi tub in the room was perfect for warming up after being in the cold. The place needs a little maintenance on the exterior, our bathroom sink was old and outdated with cracks in it. It didn’t have a drain cover so you could see down the drain at the mold build up in the pipe, which was a little gross for me. The biggest issue was the drive to the place. It’s 22 miles off Hwy 1, but the road is very slow and winding. Wasn’t able to drive very fast and it took at least an hour or more to get there and then back to the highway the next morning. There was a nice coffee shop on the floor level with some pretty good pastries.

Fantastic Stay

Oceanfront Inn at Shelter Cove was the perfect place for us to stay in Shelter Cove. While the outside is unassuming, the inside was very nice and larger than expected with first rate ocean views. Convienent location with a cafe on the ground level that puts you within walking distance to the golf course and brewery. Would defenitly recomment.

Beautiful coastline. Dated hotel but exquisite access to views and beach. The self checkin is a bit of an issue as not all the codes are getting sent with the welcome emails. But the staff are friendly and the food otoios in the community, including the coffee shop, are excellent. But ultimately it’s all about the unparalleled scenery!

It you know Shelter Cove, then you’ll own enough that this is a great place to stay. It’s a different town than most. I have a strange affinity for it. Would stay here again.

Lovely weekend in Shelter Cove

This is a lovely hotel right on the ocean. The room we were in overlooked the ocean and we heard the waves all night...lovely way to fall asleep. Donna took good care of us and the room was clean and well maintained.
