We needed a handicapped accessible room, and we were given one on the first floor, which was great. As soon as we got in our room, we noticed the noise coming from the next room. We thought it was fans, as they had removed fans from our room. The sound never quit, so in early evening, we asked if whatever was making the sound could be turned off so that we could sleep better.
The person from the desk came down, and we found out that the sound was coming from a mechanical room next to ours.
What ever it was that was making the noise - compressor or something, could not be turned off. She said that she couldn't give us another room, as they were all being used.
I think that we should have been offered a refund, or we should have been offered a quiet room in one of the other hotels in the area.
We have had a good experience at other Holiday Inn Express hotels, but this was very disappointing due to the constant noise.
