the place definitely has character and is unique - you really feel like you are in a historic building - the rooms are clean, location is perfect - they didnt modernize it all up so it feels very real which i think is cool and price is reasonable

The hotel is quite run down.

Old hotel in smalll town Mendocino, was suitable for the night. Please note this hotel has many rooms with no bathroom, you go down the hall to shared bathrooms. This was fine for me for one night but may not suit all travelers.

10/10 Exceptional

I really like the European style rooms. It was nice to have the bay view room too while the Mendocino music fest was happening. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed my stay as much if I wasn’t facing the water, so thanks for that. Would come back.
Alaa, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

We stayed overnight in one of the ocean view units with a private bath. It was a cute and clean room. We loved the view. The hotel needs some repair and renovation, but it’s charming and very convenient to everything. Parking was easy. Mendocino is a pretty, peaceful, fun little town. Hope to come back in the next year or so.
Marie, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We stayed in two rooms. The first room had a water leak from the ceiling, so we were moved another room. The property is older and needs some attention in some areas. But overall, we still enjoyed our stay.
Michael, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

Sorry Mendocino Hotel :(

For $250 Garden View King room I was dissapointed in the "garden view" of #310 it was a few small semi alive flowering plants with view of the street over walkway to upstairs rooms one with a large pup that moved around ALOT above me with its people. I hope The Marriott will bring the magnificent Historical Hotel back to its top service with restaurant and Bar. Bathroom fan did not work and a bedspread would have been nice.
James, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The view was outstanding. There are walking paths near the water. Our desk assistant recommended a great place to eat. The hotel is from 1878 and has all that charm. The lobby and bar (which is closed) has beautiful woodwork. The property is under new owners and they are planning a renovation. I hope they maintain the look and feel of an old inn.
Christine, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I liked the western era charm. The central location in the town of Mendocino, the quiet atmosphere, the parking and the views(25 A) made our stay enjoyable. I did not like that the restaurant was not in operation, that cold water faucet in the shower did function properly, the deck had creaky flooring and the entire outside building required maintenance. Such a shame the exterior is allowed to deteriorate.
Russell, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

The location was amazing. But our room smelled like mold. We woke up in the middle of the night coughing, even our dog was having breathing issues. Also, when we arrived in the early morning the lady who checked us in was very incompetence.
Bryan, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

It had an old smell to the room
Rose, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Old carpets everywhere. Smelled very bad. It is 1900 built hotel. Location is good across the ocean and walking distance to all resturants.
Paul, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

Pros: Spectacular location and view from the front porch. Cool old building. Cons: Terrible condition, creaky windows and shower door, no (NONE) room cleaning over three nights, skunk infestation under the building. It feels like nobody cares. At Motel 6 rates I’d be fine. At the price we paid ($223/night plus tax) it’s a complete ripoff regardless of location and holiday weekend.
Christoph, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Property is an old Victorian era hotel. It is very good condition for it's age but it is in need of some TLC. As I understand it, the place will be closed soon for an extensive renovation. I surely hope that the Victorian charm and furnishings (as well as the stained glass on display throughout) are to return post reno. The staff was very accommodating and gave excellent service as well as suggestions for dining.
