Unexpected inconveniences not recompensed enough
The hotel itself is very nice. Room was great and breakfast very good. But when we arrived Friday night we found that the power had been out and that the entire hotel was "re-booting." Elevators were out and had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with luggage. I have a knee disability so this was bad. Fortunately, another, younger guest helped me and my wife out. Also, as expected, internet and TV service was out as well. Then, to top it off, the fire (false) alarm sounded at 5:30 AM leading to an evacuation. This went on for an hour with neither the staff not the local fire dept able to figure out how to reset it. Neither I, nor any other guests to my knowledge, received any discount or refund. We were offered only IHG points. I understand that problems happen. But I think IHG was very stingy in providing inadequate compensation for the inconvenience. I am not sure if I would ever stay there again.
