Everyone can enjoy this museum, though people interested in architecture and the Islamic world will be particularly fascinated. It takes about 2 or 3 hours to get through the museum's vast exhibitions, but you're welcome to stay longer to take in the serene vistas available at the water's edge in the garden area.

One of the most impressive aspects of the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design is the architecture. The museum incorporates several architectural traditions from places like Iran, Spain, Syria, Egypt, and India among many others. The Moroccan ceilings are particularly impressive. You'll also find a replica of the Chehel Sotoun, albeit at a smaller scale.
This museum is also home to rotating exhibitions by visual artists who also offer workshops and lectures. Generally, there are 2 artists featured each year, so on subsequent visits you may be able to see entirely new works.

While you can explore at your own pace, you are also welcome to buy tickets for a guided tour that offers valuable insight you wouldn't find otherwise. Just keep in mind that these tours are only available from Wednesday to Saturday.
This museum is located a few miles southeast of downtown, but it's close to quite a few stunning attractions. Just to the west, you'll find the impressive volcanic landmark known as Diamond Head and its accompanying beach.
