We arrived after 11 hours of driving to be told by the desk clerk that Expedia cancelled our reservation (which was made in March). She could not tell us where we had been relocated nor would she let us use Wifi since we weren't registered guests. We were given a 1 800 number for Expedia customer care. Those agents were wonderful.
It turns out it was the hotel that cancelled us, not Expedia, because they were oversold. They told us they had no alternate accomodations for us. Also couldn't tell us why they picked us to cancel the MORNING of our arrival, even though we booked 3 months ago.
We spent an hour on the phone with Judy, from Expedia (excellent agent) during which our hotel miraculously found us a room.
We finally got to a room about 90 minutes after this all started.
We were not called, emailed or sent a text about the cancellation.
The desk clerk was apologetic but completely unhelpful. The hotel should have found us an alternate and told us before our 7pm arrival.
We received 2 bottles of water as compensatio .
I will not book with this chain in future.
