I occasionally travel solo for work from PA to New England a few times a year. Sometimes, on late returns back home, I will opt to get a hotel in the Albany area to break up the traveling a bit. Naturally, it's easy to spring for the cheapest option but obviously that always comes with a caveat. On both occasions of my stay, I have arrived late (2am) and departed early. Upon my arrivals both times, there was a lot of activity in the parking lot. Cars coming in and out and shady looking possibly strung out people hanging out and walking around the perimeter of the hotel. The lady at the front desk was polite. I asked for a late check-out and the respectfully declined. After falling asleep around 3am, I was woken up at 5am to a doors banging and people arguing a few doors down from me. I believe the police may have been called after a verbal altercation went on for 20-30 minutes. This hotel could work if you are solo traveler and looking for a cheap place to crash for a few hours, but definitely leave no valuables in your vehicle and not a bad idea to have some pepper spray when entering your room at a late hour. I will not be staying here again.
