Poor service at reception, but hotel was alright
I had booked 2 rooms, a standard twin for a friend and an executive twin for me and another friend. I called the hotel twice to ensure that my friend having the standard room would have the correct room. I was assured it was recorded against the booking. When I arrived, my friend had already booked in and had been given the executive room.
The reception manager was rude, he didn’t believe I had called despite me showing him my call history. He said they were fully booked and he couldn’t move me to an executive room and I should sort it out with my friend (she was already unpacked etc) which I wasn’t prepared to do. Eventually he offered me free breakfast, I had already paid for breakfast!! He finally offered us free evening meal on the second night, Howe this was worth £33 and the extra cost of the executive room was almost £100!
They also tried to charge me for the room that I’d already paid for.
The hotel itself was nice, the room large, clean and comfortable. The food wasn’t the best. It was just let down by poor service when booking in
