A few km outside Jaffna. Friendly informative owner who we had informative conversations. The hotel offered Sri Lankan menu - which we didn’t use as we were out and about in Jaffna. A variety of people staying at hotel , both srilankans and Europeans. Rooms were spacious . Bathroom could have been better maintained , we were happy overall.
Would recommend if you are looking for a convenient interesting place to stay.

Thambu Illam is a peaceful sanctuary hidden away in Jaffna. With four lovely rooms in a gorgeous courtyard property, it’s a wonderful space to relax after a day’s exploring. The pool is lovely, the accommodation comfortable and the location perfect. But best of all is the service: Chandranathan and his team are truly fantastic - helpful, friendly and always on hand to make your stay as good as it can be. I would highly recommend Thambu Illam and hope to go back one day!

About ten minutes tuk tuk ride to centre of town…get the lobby to order and it should be no more than 500 rupees
We stayed here for 1 day, and enjoyed our stay very much. Michael in particular was super attentive to our needs and went above and beyond to cater for us. The food is also amazing and reasonably priced.
The hotel was a little oasis of peace and quiet and the staff were so friendly and helpful, in particular the manager Rajan. The vegetarian Sri Lankan food served in the restaurant was delicious. The pool was a perfect way to cool off. We spent 4 days there and would have happily spent longer.
