The room is very conveniently located in the town. Many services and options nearby. It is upstairs over the bar and although compact the room was pleasant. The girl who checked us in was friendly and helpful. There was some parking available

Ver difficult to get luggage into hotel. They had no place to unload. The reception was the bar. And the room really wasn’t clean.

Carpet was not clean, felt very dirty. Baseboards chipped. Bathroom incredibly small. For room rate not a very good stay

Finding the check-in spot was confusing as it’s in the cafe. There is no typical front desk/ reception area. The staff was very helpful once we found her and she helped us on the phone prior to our arrival to find parking which is challenging. The guest house is a maze of hallways which is a bit confusing, but the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom large with lots of hot water! Within walking distance of the old town and castle.

The location was fantastic, especially if you took a train to Stirling, like I did. It was only about two blocks away. Restaurants were all around, within easy walking distance of the castle. The bed was comfortable and clean. They provided excellent tea and little goodies as well. Everything was great except the bathtub had a lot of black soap scum and even some hair at the far end. Luckily, I keep Clorox wipes with me; I cleaned the tub when I noticed it, as it was after hours and no one was around.

Well located, but that's about it
Nice big room, but basic tea/coffee offering considering a better room than standard. Carpet in room hadn't been hoovered for some time. Toiletries also basic.

Nice spot
The room was good size and the location was great. Parking was a little complicated. And the many pathways was a bit confusing at first. But everyone was helpful and there's lots nearby for looking and eating.

Friars Wynd hotel was an incredibly unique boutique hotel on my 3 week UK road trip. Within this area parking is very limited, but there was a car park within 100 feet of my door. There is free parking after 5 PM I think? Until about 8am? Which was completely acceptable. The room was absolutely adorable and I had a wonderful soak in their very large clean tub after driving several hours. Check in was very simple with Harry in the pub, which is connected to the hotel. She was such a delight. I highly suggest spending a few minutes talking with her about the area. She also recommended an amazing dinner when I asked for a budget friendly pub. No. 2 Baker street was great!! Best steak pie ever! I was able to just leave my hotel room key in the room when I checked out. I thought there was an issue with the toilet flushing and Harry immediately & professionally had maintenance ready to come. However, there was no issue. It was just my lack of experience with older systems. The manager called her right back and told me just to literally hold it for a couple more seconds. The toiletries were fantastic and I loved the big soft towels!! Wonderful assortment of coffee, tea, and biscuits. (Cookies for Americans)
I loved the entrance that led to a hallway directly to my unique ground. I felt very safe at the hotel and in the area! Thank you Harry

2/10 Terrible
Apr 27, 2025
The only thing this has going for it is the location. The room looked nothing like the photos. The carpets were terribly stained. There was black mould in the shower. The bed felt like it was going to snap and the beds werent made properly with the mattress showing. The elevator was broken. Overall, it was a disappointing stay.

Couples stay over for night out in Stirling
Lovely night staying over at Friars Wynd a beautiful little find entering through the bar entrance to our boutique room upstairs “Katrine” was very comfortable and the shower was amazing! The small sink was pretty powerful and we accidentally forested the tap over the sink bowl. Staff on check in gave the warmest welcome detailing everything we needed to know. 100% recommend this lovely place slap bang in the middle of Stirling. With easy access to the train station and shops.
