This was my second visit during a long business trip to Tulbagh. Despite my strong request that an invoice be available upon check-out for myself and my Japanese guests it was still a difficult procedure - it used to be so simple. The early check-in's requested for guests that had travelled over 30 hours was not possible (this is the first time in my long history with the hotel that this has been the situation). Because the hotel no longer takes cash - even for small purchases - I found myself not using the minibar as I was not prepared to accept the additional costs for an overseas traveller when using cards - perhaps the hotel owners don't realise this?? Sadly I feel this is my last time to stay at Rijks after such a long history (I first started to visit Tulbagh in 1997).

A little disappointed.
I have been a regular guest at Rijks for many years - sadly this year the hotel let me down.
Waitresses were giving their usual excellent service but the room I stayed in had a dirty toothbrush glass and mirror. The worst situation for me as business traveller was that I was unable to obtain a normal receipt and as the policy is now card only - even small amounts have to be paid for by card.
I requested that the hotel ensure that they are able to provide me with a paper receipt for myself and my other guests as this is critical for our business accounts. The menu changed to something less inspiring.
