We travel frequently and have stayed in many hotels around the world. We’re not hotel snobs, but we do appreciate the comfort that 4- and 5-star properties usually provide. On this occasion, we had a meeting in London and didn’t want to spend over £400 for one night, so we decided to stay at the Plaza Hotel in Hammersmith instead. On arrival, we were greeted by a friendly staff member who explained everything we needed to know. The room itself could definitely use some modernisation. However, our main issue was the bed—it was extremely hard, and as a result, we barely slept, which wasn’t ideal before an important meeting. Overall, it’s fair to say you get what you pay for. After this experience, we’ve agreed that we’ll stick to 4- or 5-star hotels in the future. Of course, this is just our personal opinion—others may have a different experience.

Good value for the price

The room was small, but comfortable. The room and bathroom were spotless. The only negative is that the bed had a big dip in it, making the sleep not as comfortable as it could have been.

Could do with a bit of tlc.

One night stay convenient for Hammersmith Apollo , wasn’t expecting much , clean bedding but poorly fitted sheet and mattress had big dent in it so had to turn it over for comfort, needed earplugs as no double glazing, one clothes hanger, one towel , nowhere to put toiletries in shower , shower took ages to heat up , no bath mat , tea and coffee sachets but no kettle , fridge in a small room not sure why, no chair , drawers that had fridge on , bed had empty space for drawers underneath. Room could do with a bit of tlc and thought.

Beds just about bearable, staff very friendly, but: Shower moldy, sink drain clogged, lamp by the bed torn out of the wall, refrigerator moldy, room door leaking and noisy. recommended!

Cheap stay

Cheap hotel, service was good. Toilet seat didn't fit the toilet properly but that was fine. Couple marks in the loo again not too much of an issue. There was a hair in one of the beds but it wasn't much of a problem. The Tv was broken but didn't hinder the usage. The lovely gentleman in reception had reduced the price for me which was kind of him. Main concern is the room was downstairs which didn't have a light until you got too the rooms. Maybe it might be worth getting a light installed as I can forsee an accident happening.

Popped in, got to our room and the door lock was hanging by a thread. The table in the room was sticky and in rough shape, and the dust in and around the tv was abhorrent. We just left and booked another hotel. Could be a rent-by- the-hour place.

Good if working and sleeping Shops/facilities. 🙂

Basic. Price okay if can get lower rate. Fine for transport links and safe area if leaving early morning. Need to travel for work again soon and was just going to book again. Room a little warm at times but fan provided. Reception man was pleasant and friendly in his manner . TV was not getting reception but I never needed and could have asked about it.

I am disabled and I was on the second floor very narrow stairs and nobody to help me up and when I left I had to go to the street and ask a stranger to carry my case down. I had no pillow the first night tho when there was actually someone at reception they promised me they would get one. The TV remote did not work so I had sky news the whole stay

Very dirty bathroom-used shaver, body wash. Bathroom dirty with mold in ceiling. Flooding bathroom during shower. No bathmats provided or hand soap. Hair on bed linen. Dirty mini refrigerator. Dirty curtains. No effort make room comfortable. Not one came to inspect room after we complained. No alternative offered. While they were kind to allow us to check in after midnight, the service was not the best afterwards.

Luck of the draw

It appears the room allocated to you will effect your experience based on the varied reviews. My experience: The good. Location excellent. Staff at check in, nice enough. The bad. Room filthy with mould. Marks all over the walls, unknown fluids on surfaces. Tiles in bathroom floor broken and lifting as their is no grout left. Shower not draining. I did not sleep under the duvet out of concearn. Towels not changed or room maintained on a four night stay. Even the little outdoor area featured in their ad had broken furniture in it. I was in town on a business trip and had no time to seek other options. Such a shame with some care, could be much better.

Terrible room. dirty. Full of stains on the ceiling and chipped plaster. Bathroom renovated, but dirty. Curtain tied in a knot, dirty. No table and coffee. Mattress to be replaced!! Deformed. Very old furniture, dirty inside. It was not the room I booked for two people. The room was so small that it was difficult to fit. The service I received was not the one I paid for.Very kind receptionist.

Mixed review

We stayed at this hotel during a heatwave and since we got a room on the top floor and the room had no AC we could barely breathe in there, let alone sleep. One of the two windows were broken and could not be opened. The room and the bathroom had not been properly cleaned and the carpet needs changing. The staff were really friendly and tried their best to help us feel more comfortable, provided us with an extra fan in the room for instance. After the heatwave passed it was ok to sleep there. All in all not the worst hotel I've been in but certainly not the best. Location was really good, but the street just outside was very busy until late. I think every ambulance and police car in town drove past there. At least it felt like that. WESTFIELD shopping mall was close, walking distance from hotel. You only had to pass what we ended up calling the "Marijuana park" on the way there. Lots of weed-smoking people in the area. If you can look and smell past that, it was a nice area:)

Très déçu !

J'étais déçu de l'état de la chambre. Ça ne ressemble pas du tout aux photos. Les draps et les serviettes étaient propres mais l'état de la chambre médiocre. En plus de tout ça, pas d'eau chaude la 2eme nuit avec aucun geste commercial. Le réceptionniste était nonchalant comme si ce n'était pas si nécessaire de prendre une douche ou quasi optionnel ! Je ne reviendrai plus.
