I chose to stay ofte at the Courtyard Marriott not because of the brand but because of previous experiences of consistency in service and safety.
I’m going through medical challenges this year and often have medical appointments which I find staying in hotels help worry less. So the day/night I stayed was also the day I picked up my required Rx at Yale Hospital’s pharmacy; which also, required refrigeration. Next morning, checkout and gone to work on usual Monday. While I was at work, I realized I forgot to take my Rx out room refrigerator. I immediately called Marriott and spoke with personnel on duty about it. I was advised to call back the following morning because there are no housekeeping personnel to speak with my concern. Worried as I patiently waited the following day… over the phone, as advised, in disbelief my Rx was lost; so I returned to the hotel in person and was advised they did lost my Rx. How can one amiss a package emblazoned over Yale-New Haven Health blue insignia with a box that has an imprint with my name and my doctor’s name. I am diabetic prescribed on ozempic and, with no gap provision in my insurance, paid substantial OOP sum to replace what was lost. At the end of the day, I am responsible for leaving an important life saving medication. But yet, I can not accept the explanation I was given – “simply tossed out by accident.”
None of upper management have called and reach out to me until to this day 12th of August.
