Certainly the two beds were extremely comfortable, but we were not impressed when, for example, the bathroom door was too ill-fitting to even close, less still lock! One of the sash windows would not stay up, and we were left sleeping in an extremely hot bedroom. The fact that there is no 'proper' breakfast (other than a tray in the room with e.g. a couple of exceedingly cheap cardboard pots of porridge to be mixed with boiling water, and unappetising, cheapest 'croissants' etc) made us feel that the £660 we were paying for just four nights was ridiculously over-priced, especially when there is no private parking for hotel guests.
North Berwick itself was as beautiful as ever, so it's high time that the owners of The Folly Hotel put some money and effort into restoring this building (which, we have since been told, was once public toilets!!!!). Only then might staying there be an attractive experience........
