This hotel looks like it was designed for people just passing through (truckers, sales people etc) not really tourists but it was fine. Small rooms, nice breakfast helpful staff, priced right.
Highway hotel at the edge of town - almost an hour walk from train station. Very friendly and helpful staff though who helps us forward our luggage while we walked the Nakisendo Trail. We found a small Ramon restaurant around the corner where a delightful woman of at least 80 years prepared dinner for us for a most reasonable price. We spoke to her and she to us using Japanese to English and English to Japanese translator apps. We tried the interesting appetizer she brought us. They tasted good and upon asking our host what is was, the translator said “That’s a bee’s child”. Enjoy the larvae and the ramen. We did.
