Had a 3-night business trip during sakura season so hotel prices were outrageous. Chose this hotel due to reasonably priced and close proximity to Shimbashi station.
The Good: room is comfortable and good sized (for Tokyo standard), and has nice night views. Staff is super helpful (I used Takkyubin service) and breakfast is decent. Housekeeping is quick and ninja-like efficient. I was gone for couple hours, with the “please clean” sign on the door, and the room was cleaned when I got back!
The Bad: ooof, the smell. Every time you flush the toilet, you can catch a trace of sever smell for 5 minutes in the room. Not just the toilet area, I mean inside the room, on the bed, near the window, all of it. I don't know what’s wrong with the plumbing system, but it’s definitely a strange experience. Also, there is a constant banging sound in the walls. It’s not loud, but just enough to be annoying. I believe it’s something to do with plumbing pipes because during the middle of night the sound seems to have disappeared for a few hours. So, I deduced the sound must have come from pipes vibrating and hitting the walls when there is water running through it. But you get the idea. Sound and smell, there you have it. Without those flaws it’ll definitely be on my short list of Tokyo hotels.
