When I checked in, the front desk agent told me that no rooms were available for the reservation I made, and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a different room for an additional charge. I declined, and they gave me only facility keys without any instructions on where to get the actual room key or how long I would have to wait for a room to be ready.
I wasn’t sure what to do, so I got in another line and asked a different clerk whether my room was ready. That clerk immediately said yes and gave me the key. I felt embarrassed and confused because one employee told me there were no rooms, while another gave me a key within five minutes. When I asked how the room could be ready so quickly, the answer was simply, “Yes,” in a short and dismissive tone.
It felt like they were just trying to push an upgrade for extra money, which I suspect may be a common sales tactic.
