Dangerous environment all over

I misread the rating of this hotel and booked this after a long day of driving with my family. TERRIBLE MISTAKE! The hotel had boarded up windows, overgrown bushes, and we saw a love drug deal go down in the parking lot as we were getting out of our car. There was also a homeless encampment near the front entrance. I felt completely unsafe here. I ate the cost (trying to get a refund) because risking my family’s safety was not worth it. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The pictures were misleading - we expected much more for what we showed up to. A hotel in a back parking lot. Our stay was okay, we were in town for the zoo so we spent minimal time in the room. One half of the hotel did consistently smell of marijuana every time we would enter/exit at random times. The breakfast offered was 2 kinds of cereal and eggs. One day there was biscuits and gravy but not the next. So don’t expect anything that will actually curb your hunger. We didn’t use the pool so no opinion there. The room was clean. We had a quiet section of the hotel overnight which was great. We didn’t have a bad stay, we were there to sleep and shower. The room did the job it was meant to do.

DO NOT STAY

Booked this as a family vacation as it’s close to the zoo. Bathroom door had no door handle. There were stains on the wall. A few spiders decided to make our room their home. We stayed three nights nobody came in to give us new towels make our beds take out our trash, refill any supplies that we needed when the kids were swimming had to actually ask the front desk for towels no comforters on beds asked for pillows multiple times never received any extra pillows apparently people left their towels outside in the hallway for them to be taken away and cleaned dirty hallway. There was a men’s bathroom in the entryway that my son said was disgusting no toilet paper feces left in the toilet for multiple days. We only stayed due to already paying and couldn’t find anywhere else in our budget for that same weekend zero out of 10 do not recommend this hote.

Rooms were under construction and the bathrooms were a little rough. Also only had a 1/4 roll of TP and no more rolls in the room. Front desk was left unattended constantly. And there was no continental breakfast. The 3 bagels and thing of stale cereal don’t count for anything. Room keys only worked half the time. For being in such a great location, walking distance to the zoo, it was a let down. Thankful there was a Casey’s across the street and Scooters coffee to take care of breakfast.

Terrible.

Terribly misleading. The front of the “hotel” doesn't even have a name on it. Walked in the front door and there was no staff around to check us in for 10 minutes the pool was VERY dirty.

The place was different than a couple of years ago, I know they are remodeling, however I feel they have slipped. There was no breakfast as advertised, no shampoo and body wash, just empty bottles.

Find a Different Hotel Close to The ZOO

We walked into the room and it smelled so bad, I think it was because the shower didn’t have a tub and the wood was rotting in the bathroom. There was no actual blanket on the bed just 3 thin sheets. Last but not least there was an actual booger on the ceiling, I didn’t take a picture but we left asap.

Protect yourself and your family

Did not feel safe. Letting the kids run around. Booked over the internet and it was late so delt with it. There were multiple people in Their cars in the parking lot with obvious drug issues/ money problems. Room seemed ok except the bathroom which looked half cleaned. Google pictures do no justice for what your actualy staying in. Horrible paint job. Did not use any tape. Floor boards are left over carpet. This place is one step from being a dive.

Stay somewhere else

We booked two rooms for our family of 6. When we checked, we had trouble explaining to the clerk that we had two rooms. One of our rooms smelled so terribly of smoke that we could not use it. The hallways smelled dank and dirty. There was a hole in the wall of our bathroom and the shower door was poorly installed causing it to be difficult to open and to leak water all over the bathroom. Employees seemed to do as little as possible. Breakfast was not replenished with food, plates, or silverware. The refrigerator where the milk was stored during breakfast was set to 54 degrees F. At one point, we requested more towels and they were never brought.

Terrible. Never again.

Terrible. Rooms were dirty. Had a bad smell. No comforters on beds. Sheets were stained with marker and other things. Shower was dirty. Floor was dirty. Hallway carpet was dirty and stained. Could smell people smoking weed. Absolutely awful.

Unfinished redo in room

The hotel appeared to be in transition. They may have bought it but the remodel is substandard. Rooms were fairly clean but details like unfinished detail work as nails protruded walls, and doors had caulking on the knobs.

I am not sure if I just stayed when they were in the middle of reconstruction? My room did not have a garbage and the floors have not been mopped. The hallway and the stairs leading upstairs were stained and looked like they had never been vacuumed. The shower was dirty. The couch was dirty. Mattress was comfortable.

This is an honest review. Our first room we got was unfortunately a poor way to start everything - we stayed Friday to Wednesday. The room did not have a working door besides the sliding one that led to the outside/pool area and the AC didn’t work either. Now the manager whom we were told is new was very nice about everything and he did give us a new room Sunday. Nothing was stolen it was mainly families there on the weekend for the zoo so I felt fairly safe leaving during the day and we could lock the sliding door at night. Interesting characters hung around the hotel during all hours but no incidents and they left us alone. The room itself was a bit messy, paint splatters everywhere and things like that but the bed was comfy and it worked. The breakfast was meh but it was still provided and that counts. The second room we had from Sunday- Wednesday had about the same problems messy and a weird smell but the week crowd moved in and let’s just say that we heard many people having different versions of FUN TIMES. But this is a $70 a night hotel so you get what you pay for. Overall this hotel was NOT bad but I think next time it would be worth paying extra to be closer to downtown. We wish best endeavors to the new owners whom again were EXTREMELY nice and professional and we appreciate them very much!! We hope to see that down the road this hotel has made new changes and upgrades but that takes time and funds- would still stay here for one night for the zoo etc etc
