Disappointed stay
We had wanted to stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for many years. Unfortunately, we are extremely disappointed. There was absolutely NO “Aloha” anywhere at the resort, minus one server at the Tropics Elizabeth who was great, and pool staff Gabe who interacted awesomely with kids and adults.
They put us in the wrong room and told us they gave us an “upgrade” but we selected a particular room for a reason for the sunsets. They offered us a new room for an up charge. Basically, be happy with your “upgraded room”. We were told a manager would say the same thing.
The pools were a joke. They were so packed that you couldn’t find a chair to sit in. The pool staff minus (Gabe) were grumpy to adults and kids. They were not paying any attention to the kids safety on the water slides because they were on their phones the whole time. The slides are only open for a couple hours. The pool food locations closed early if open at all and most of that staff was rude.
The pool area was not secure for guests. We counted numerous locals and other non-guests walk right in the pool area. This raises huge safety concerns. There seemed to be no restrictions on dogs and people smoking pot round the pool and the Lagoon.
Be prepared for huge charges at the end. Self parking was told to us as $69 for the week, when it’s $69 a day. Hawai’i Taxes, county taxes, room tax, general tax, resort fees. Be aware of all the fees!
