The Hua Hin Night Market is widely believed to have started the phenomenon of night markets in Thailand. Each night, the town centre comes to life, attracting visitors with traditional Thai souvenirs and street food. One street, covering 2 blocks between Petchkasem Road and the railway, is closed off to traffic so you can wander at ease.

Under canopies of lights, shopkeepers line the street with their wares and draw in passers-by with the enticing aromas of steaming and sizzling street food. Expect to find restaurants with good seafood at low prices, plus items such as jewellery, Thai souvenirs, crafts, beachwear, and Buddhist relics.

Indoor galleries contain paintings and sculptures, while an open-air auditorium showcases live music and theatre. Note that these shows require a separate ticket. Sheltered among a large tamarind tree and laid out like a grid, this market has a relaxed vibe with a wide variety of stalls, a large food court, and a music stage. It’s a great place to shop for traditional souvenirs, jewellery, and clothing in Hua Hin.

Wide paths are lined predominantly with food stalls, and there is also a beer garden, making Tamarind Market a favoured spot for dining. You'll have the opportunity to try delicious Thai cuisine, but you will also encounter western favourites like pizza and sandwiches. Sit at one of the many stone tables and enjoy the open-air, live music performances while you eat.

The retro-style Sam Phan Nam Floating Market is one of the largest floating markets in Asia. A quintessential Hua Hin experience, this market has been designed to recreate the 1920s – a time when King Rama V and King Rama VI ruled the area.

The moored fishing boats make for a good photo-op, while white and black swans float on the manmade lake, hoping to be fed. A mini train takes passengers to different shops selling souvenirs, clothing, and delicious Thai cuisine.

You can find Chatchai Market on Petchkasem Road, between Soi 70 and Soi 72. It’s a fascinating place to browse – you're sure to see many items unrecognisable to most Westerners. There are also plenty of stalls offering souvenirs, but if you're hungry, you'll find almost everything at the market, from fresh produce and herbs to dried seafood and hot soup.

Despite the name, the Grand Night Market is not much bigger than most night markets in Thailand. However, it might seem grander because some stalls are permanent structures rather than tents. Located a few blocks north of Market Village, the market is part of the Hua Hin Grand Hotel and Plaza. It's best to take a motorbike, tuk-tuk or a taxi because it can be challenging to find parking nearby.

Goods sold at the Grand Night Market include clothing, jewellery and souvenirs. There is a splendid range of food too, with bars and restaurants close together, making it easy to hop from one spot to the next.

Hua Hin Market Village is a large, partially air-conditioned shopping mall on Phet Kasem Road, the main street in Hua Hin. You'll find a wide range of stalls and shops selling virtually everything from Thai handicrafts to international clothing brands. With a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, Market Village also had a large food court and family entertainment.

On the third floor, the Major Cineplex shows movies in English or with English subtitles. You'll also find a kids pavilion with games and a ball pit for little ones. The lower level hosts air-conditioned shops, while the food court offers traditional Thai cuisine and desserts – try the mango with sticky rice or coconut ice cream. Western favourites such as Burger King, KFC and Sizzler are available at the mall, too.

Pae Mai Market is on Klong Road, where the town’s songthaews (pick-up trucks c) begin and end their route. Here, you won't find any of the glitz and entertainment found at other markets that cater more to tourists. This is a popular shopping location for locals to find almost anything they need.

Many of the stalls are built from old freight containers. The vendors sell a large selection of clothing, accessories, shoes, electrical appliances, tools, car accessories, snacks, ready meals, fruits, vegetables, and desserts. This market is only open on Tuesdays, which is why it’s sometimes called the Tuesday Market.
