Hondori Central Shopping District (also known as âHondoriâ) is one of the most popular shopping areas not only in Hiroshima, but in the entire Chugoku-Shikoku region. In the Edo period, it flourished as the main route of the Sanyo Road, which crossed under Hiroshima Castle.
This 577-metre-long arcade links Peace Memorial Park with the central area, and here youâll find a wide variety of shops from jewellery stores and boutiques to pharmacies and restaurants. It's typically crowded with around 100,000 people on weekends, but it's even more lively and it becomes a pedestrian zone during Ebisu Festival.
