What could be better than going for a walk with your family on the beautiful beaches of Shirahama? Don't forget to pack your swimwear, because the sea off Shirahama is the place to be in summertime. Try snorkelling and you'll be able to see shoals of beautiful fish under the waves, or check out the glass-bottomed boats and underwater observatories if you'd rather stay dry. The whole area is like a natural aquarium.
Back on land, check out the scenic parks and riverside campsites for even more family fun. The natural environment is Shirahama's most obvious attraction, but there are also many museums and other points of interest to discover.

Shirarahama is a beautiful beach that's especially popular with families. A sister beach of Waikiki beach in Honolulu, Hawaii, this is renowned as one of the most stunning beach resorts in the Kansai region.
The beach is about 620 metres long and is quite shallow, making it safe for children to play. The white, shiny sand is actually quartz sand containing 90% silicic acid, giving it a pleasantly smooth texture. Summer events such as firework displays take this resort to the next level.

Shirahama Undersea Observation Tower (Coral Princess) is an underwater observation facility that you can get to from Shirahama Key Terrace Hotel Seamore. Look through the round windows and youâll see fish swimming in the sea in their natural environment, like peering into another world. Children will love it.
The fish are all from the sea around Shirahama, including black sea bream, girella, sea bream, and puffer fish. Weather and changes in the waves can affect visibility, so it's a good idea to check before entering. The old buildings are also worth checking out for their retro style.

This is a great place for families with little children to enjoy playing on the beach without having to worry about crowds, because itâs not very well-known to tourists and the rocky shoreline doesnât attract many bathers anyway.
As well as swimming in the sea, you can spend a relaxing time here with your family enjoying banana boat rides, gathering shells, and looking at sea creatures on the shore. There are showers and parking too.
