Good room, terrible breakfast
The room itself was fantastic: big, spacious, and featured a separate shower and tub, which I really appreciated. The internet connection was also good and reliable.
However, the check-in process was frustratingly slow. Despite it being an international hotel, the staff took a considerable amount of time to scan documents and locate our reservation.
The main issue, though, was with breakfast. I felt genuinely scammed. On Hotels.com, it stated breakfast was $8 USD and offered the option to book with or without it. I chose to book without. Upon arrival, I was charged 125 yuan per person, which, while a standard price for these hotel chains, wouldn't have been a huge deal if the quality had been acceptable. Unfortunately, the breakfast quality was terrible. There was only one person at the egg station, and guests were constantly inquiring about their orders. It was clear he was short-staffed, and I felt bad for him. Beyond that, the food on the buffet was dried out and largely inedible. It was a truly disappointing breakfast experience.
