Great location, hotel feeling quite run down
This is our second stay at Soul in Surfer’s Paradise. Unfortunately now it is feeling quite run down and unclean. There was mould in the bathrooms and on the balcony door handles, the furniture had rips in it, the corridors and room had a very stale scent. The ladder into one of the spas was broken and indoor pool felt dirty and had a sandy floor. What was once quite a grand hotel is now feeling quite tired. A cot wasn’t provided in our room on check in as requested during booking, however brought up soon after by guest services. This was also dirty and felt quite uncomfortable. Our room was ready early for checkin which was convenient, however late check out wasn’t available. Very convenient location being in the heart of Surfers but in need of a good clean.

First time staying here. Hotel amenities are good, especially with an indoor and outdoor pool. Couch and pillows in room could do with an upgrade. We weren’t quite sure why the hot water in the shower only got to one temperature. Hardly any cold water was used when taking a shower. Had to call reception for shower soap as well. The container was empty. Not a big thing but for the $$ per night you’d expect better.

The decor in the rooms is dated, feels tired. One of the TVs didn’t work. Wifi didn’t work in my room (also in my friend’s room). Difficult full flight of stairs up to the reception (especially with bags) and you can’t use the lift because you haven’t yet got your key card. The lift should at least let you get to level 2 from the ground floor. But the location is great and the staff are helpful.

Overall property is great. The few down sides, the room we had had no curtains in living area making the TV unusable during daylight hours due to reflection and difficult to sleep in with the entire apartment lite up from sunrise. Elevators have long waits. Construction sounds from other levels travels through elevator shaft.
