Sultanhan Hotel - Special Class
"So the Hotel and the staff for excellent. The only advice I have to travel is going to Istanbul is to be able to access Google Maps on their cell phones. A lot of the iPhones that people use do not have a SIM card so therefore they cannot access a Google Maps while they’re walking around the city. They will have to go to a telephone store and actually have Internet connected to their cell phone so they could use the Google Maps. Otherwise, the whole stay at the hotel the staff and the room was really exceptional. Thank you."
Hampton by Hilton Istanbul Airport, Arnavutkoy
"We had an overall very pleasant stay at Hampton by Hilton. The hotel itself is excellent — the rooms were comfortable, the beds were great, and we really enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, our experience with the front desk management left a very disappointing impression. Before our arrival, while we were still traveling from Russia, I contacted the hotel simply to ask whether airport transportation was available and how much it would cost. I was told that a transfer could be arranged for €54. I provided our flight information while discussing the option, but I never clearly confirmed that I wanted to book the transfer or agreed that the reservation was final. After landing in Istanbul, I saw a message saying that a driver was already waiting for us. By that point, I had checked Uber and found that the same short trip could be made for approximately $12–15, so naturally I chose not to pay €54 for the hotel transfer. When we arrived at the hotel, however, I was told that I owed a €24 no-show fee because the driver had gone to the airport. I explained that I had never explicitly confirmed the transfer and therefore did not believe it should have been booked in the first place. What disappointed me most was not the €24 itself, but the way the situation was handled. After a long journey, standing at the front desk with my child, I found myself having to argue with a manager who continued insisting that I was responsible for the fee. For a hotel of this standard,"
The Ritz-Carlton, Istanbul
"Everything and everyone was incredible at the hotel from the staff and amenities. The only problem with this hotel is the soccer stadium directly next to it. My cab couldn’t get through and dropped me off at the bottom of the hill and I had to walk which is fine only then the police wouldn’t let me pass on foot either. I walked around the back side and was lumped into a massive crowed of rabid soccer fans. Reaching the other side of the stadium I again was told no I couldn’t pass and had to beg the police to let me pass and they escorted to the back entrance. Just take a look at whoever plays at this stadium before booking. Also the game went late and you could hear the screaming for hours. This issue isn’t with the hotel or the staff because again they were all remarkable"

Grand Palace Hotel
"There were no real amenities. It was a clean comfortable room, in a good location with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It was a residential area, NOT a tourist destination. The staff were very helpful, professional and pleasant."
