It was quite an experience to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel ( more like a B&B). Even the host speaks no fluent English, the communication works fine. We have spacious rooms in 2nd floor over look the channel. Supposed a smoking room but we didn’t get any lingering cigarette smell. Since it is an onsen town, we didn’t visit the shower room in downstairs at all but do onsen hopping . Service is proper and in room breakfast is very nice. The few surprises we got is the name of hotel is in Hiragana, we can only relied on location and month to find the correct hotel. Before the checking out, we got surcharge of ¥700 for onsen tax.
