We got into town a little earlier than expected. I called and asked if we could check in early. (Check in is at 3pm, I called at 12:30pm) I was told they had been busy, but they could check us in at 2pm - totally understandable. We got to the hotel at 2pm and was then told that early check in was only reserved for their club members, which I could sign up for, free, by just providing my email address. This was never discussed when I called. I declined - I don’t need more marketing emails - and then we waited by the restaurant for the appropriate check in time. From there, we got to listen to an interview being conducted. Weird that it wasn’t in an office, but okay. They then were able to get us in a room by 2:40pm, which was a nice surprise. Overall, not a bad stay. But it still felt a little unprofessional and disjointed.
