Good value for the money
The hotel is very close to the train station. The people in the reception speak very limited english but are very friendly. The rooms are big in comparison to other hotels in taiwan. The name of the Hotel changed is not longer Camelot Inn. The breakfast is a Chinese buffet

This place is very close to the Hualien Train Station, within walking distance. Easy to get to even with rain & luggage. At most 10 minutes walking from the station.
The staff are very nice and and respectful! They helped us call taxis when we needed.
They had free ice cream/snacks 24 hours, so that was a plus :)
The hotel was clean and comfortable, although the beds were a bit short. It was also by an airplane base, which made it quite loud. The planes stopped flying by around 8pm though, so it was not loud while we tried to sleep. The hotel was also conveniently located by a 7-11, a block from the train station, and about a 40 min walk from the main downtown area in Hualien with lots of foods and shops. Lovely hotel!

Friendly staff and great service
Note: This review is for our stay before the February 6, 2018 earthquake. We stayed at Camelot Inn on the night of Feb 4, 2018.
We were taking a 3-day trip of eastern Taiwan and Camelot Inn was our first stop. Check-in was a breeze. Told the front desk staff that I booked through Expedia and was promptly handed the key to our room, along with a brief and informative overview of the breakfast buffet area and unlimited ice cream.
I booked a quad-room and it was more than enough for the three of us. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Bathroom had a tub/shower combination and a separate shower as well. The separate shower was partially enclosed, but lacked a sliding door to shut it completely. Spray of water from shower will wet the bathroom floor. Par for the course for bathroom designs in Taiwan.
Breakfast buffet was included with the room and consisted of typical Taiwanese breakfast fares. I forgot to mention one of us is a vegetarian, and the hotel staff went out of their way to prepare a vegetarian dish just for her. We were impressed. We were used to "You didn't tell us so you have to make do" type of responses. Bravo to Camelot Inn's staff and their amazing flexibility to accommodate us with no notice.
Hotel's location is excellent for anyone arriving by train. It's a 5-minute walk from the train station and the street it's located on is relatively quiet. Great location for a 1- or 2-nights stay in Hualien.
