4 star hotel charging 5 star prices...
The hotel is very good, with a modern twist but I don't understand the 5 star rating. Service was OK, welcoming door man was very pleasant. reception was functional and compact. room was a good size with flat pack furniture nothing 5 star but very good. bathroom had stains on the floor and black stains in the shower. in a four star I would haven't noted! there is no sense of occasion with the hotel (such as the Merrion or Intercontinental etc), nothing unique and can't understand the five star rating, in fact I wold feel strongly that its over sold!
I had booked two rooms for a one night stay to see a concert nearby. We arrived back at the hotel shortly after 11pm, to discover the roof top bar closed at 11pm (on a Saturday night), so we had to sit in the foyer bar. we hadn't eaten since lunch and had enquired about food. the only option we had been offered would to have room service in our room. Being a 5 star hotel and providing customer centric 5 star service, I was hoping for that little bit extra. would it have been a better option to say, kitchen is closed but I the circumstances we can give you a few option from room service, there in the lobby? instead we were met with a manager who started to point out that we couldn't have food and no other hotel won provide for (which is not correct) and spent 5-minutes making the point we were not getting food for many reasons..!
I would expect that from premier inn and not 5-star establishment.
ive no interest in going back.
