Local old motel style hotel block away from park entrance. Does the job for a place to sleep. Donuts, muffins, and coffee were served in the morning.

No frills cheap hotel the rooms are clean but dated. The owner and staff are amazing every time I stay here. The pool area while plane is nice the water was clean and cool on a hot day. Can’t wait to stay here again you can’t beat the price

I was very impressed with hotel Avalon. I was kinda worried when I booked as it was the cheapest cost in the area, however everything was better than expected by far. The room was very clean and the pool was really nice and clean. Don't go in expecting a 4 star hotel but for a 2 star hotel it is extremely nice. Definitely will be staying again as it is also extremely close to cedar point.

Great great hotel. Staff went above and beyond and drove us to the train station at 4:00 am when there were no Ubers or taxis.. Definitely rebooking Avalon when we come back to Cedar Point. Thank you very much!!

The property looks kind of old and the door lock mechanisms seemed to have a lot of issues. However, the room was decent and was clean, and the staff was exceedingly helpful and kind. Also, the price was quite good compared to a lot of other hotels.

The management here is top notch…The hotel is being refurbished and upgraded…Was closed for a year or 2…But a great reclamation has begun. I’ve stayed twice…Once last year and once this year. Huge difference. It’s coming up and it’s the most reasonably priced.

The staff wasn’t as helpful as I would have liked. Lots of laughing and never answering your questions. Rooms are okay but certainly not updated in any fashion. Showers were good and kept hot water for multiple people. Air conditioner in one of our two rooms was extremely loud. Pool was not exactly safe with sharp pieces of concrete everyone and tons and tons of empty alcohol bottles and cans. Okay for the price but not sure we’d return.

If the place matched the staff it could be a 5 star. Staff was friendly & very accommodating… but that’s about it. It’s located in kind of a run down area. Our room needed a lot of love. Dirty as heck on the walls & baseboards. Shower was an OMG moment with leftover used bar of soap in the tub. Cobwebs, dust, you name it. Beds didn’t have bugs thank goodness & TV didn’t even work! But to be honest I was looking for a cheap in/out stay in the Sandusky area since everything was insanely overpriced, but that’s all it was. Not sure I’d recommend it for anything else if you can find a more reasonable alternative … nor would I likely recommend it at all. We also checked out a bit early & there was a bum sleeping on the couch in the lobby. Not sure what kind of rate he got but his room looked a bit better than ours. All in all we made it through the night with some good rest & our car was still there in the morning. Thanks for the stay, we probably won’t be back. Again, the lady at the front desk was very nice!

there was a water leak coming the ceiling of my room...and the paint/ plaster from ceiling was falling in the middle of the night..I was lucky this area was not above my head as I was sleeping!! when I told the manager he did not say he was sorry etc as his only response was that the building was old....be aware of this property!!
