When I checked in, the hotel made me pay for my stay. Again. So, I double paid. They later sent me a long text taking ownership of the issue and were very apologetic. They attempted to refund me, but were unable to. Instead, they deducted hotel costs like spa, lunch, dinner, mini bar, etc from the cost, but I was still left with the equivalent of about $100. At checkout, when I’m about to get on a plane to the US, their solution was to give me a bunch of cash in Brazilian Reals which is useless at home. They told me to take it to currency conversion and I asked them to pay the high transaction fee that would come with it and they couldn’t. So, now I’ve got a bunch of useless cash and not very happy with how this was handled.
