I am surprised about the high rating of this establishment. It is a clean and pretty house in a lovely neighborhood, but I feel as if "The Bays Hostel" would be a more appropriate name. Some concerns included:
a) The room can only be locked from the inside and cannot be locked when guests are not there. I didn't feel comfortable leaving personal documents or anything valuable.
b) What was mentioned as a futon on the listing, was a junky air mattress on the floor with only 1 pillow, a bottom sheet, and a top blanket. The owner instructed me to find another pillow in the closet, but the doors were blocked by the air mattress on the floor.
c) I'm hoping the "private bathroom" was indeed private, but since it was not connected to my room, I don't know if other guests used it. It did have excellent water pressure
d) There is a house cat which should have been mentioned for people with allergies.
e) The continental breakfast consisted of toast, instant coffee, tea, yogurt, and cereal.
f) When we arrived, we drove into the driveway. Before we could get out of the car, the owner was telling us how rude we were for driving into the driveway. We backed out and parked on the street. The owner mentioned that we should have read the email about parking instructions. She never emailed anything about parking.
d) Once inside, the owner told me that I only reserved a room for 3 people. I showed her the reservation, which was clearly for 4 people.
