I will start my review off my mentioning I managed hotels for years and am well travelled (to 50 countries) and bilingual. First rule as a hotelier, when single females travel, you ensure their safety (not on first floor and away from elevators and stairs). This was not the case. Ive had someone try and enter my room before during other travels so I am acutely aware. My room was in first floor (I’m also convinced I got the worst room in the hotel, being woken up by the smell of burnt toast each morning from the restaurant). No peep hole on door either.
My female friend and I each booked a balcony room (specifically said it in the room description, it was not a “request”) but when we arrived, her room did not have a balcony. They mustered up a room for her with a balcony but compared to my room, it was a palace. They actually downgraded her room until we said something (I guess you need to request a room with a bed when staying here too as that’s what the attitude felt like when talking to the front desk about it. So, I’m an Expedia gold member and one of the rooms is downgraded originally? The front desk didn’t care. They gave us free coffee in the morning but that didn’t make up for it, sorry.
The rooms were clean and appreciated the towel warming rack in the bathroom as well as good water pressure and hot water. German rooms are notoriously hot but was able to get room to a nice temp. The cafe staff for coffee were very nice and the area is very convenient.
