Lovely village stay

The room was an unexpected delight so many thoughtful things - the breakfast hamper, drinks and snacks in the fridge. The quality of the products in the room was excellent.

Don't miss this place when in the area

An ancient pub with fantastic bedrooms. Easy parking, excellent range of beers in the bar, great staff, clean and well looked after room. No restaurant at the pub but a fantastic breakfast basket in the room. Really nice place. Thoroughly recommended

Historic pub in Coggeshall.

Very characterful property which was very picturesque. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a continental hamper in the room and included a fresh coffee pod machine.

The Woolpack

From the moment we walked in we felt very welcome by not only the staff but by the locals and were made to feel at home Our room “Dedham”was amazing, very clean and modern but still in keeping with the period of the pub. They had thought of all the facilities that we may need along with a varied selection of food and drink for breakfast . The bathroom was very impressive with an extra large bath and shower along with a great view of the church. We could not recommend this hotel more and shall be returning

Absolutely amazing! The staff were fabulous, and so friendly, and very accommodating. Thank you so much Rosie and colleagues. Our rooms were immaculately clean with lovely bathrooms, and a picnic breakfast basket. I highly recommend this beautiful pub/ hotel.

I had a really nice stay at The WoolPack Inn. I liked the way the room was decorated and it was lovely and clean. Daily housekeeping too which was great. Staff were really friendly and happy to help. Only small downside was that the room was pretty small - no wardrobe (just some hangers on some pegs)/vanity area. However, this didn't affect my stay. The tea tray/mini fridge was well stocked with everything you'd need! There is very little sound proofing so it can be noisy - however when I stayed the nights were pretty quiet.

We were super impressed with our amazing room at the Woolpack Inn. Our room had so much character, was tastefully furnished, spotless and the bed was oh so comfortable. We liked the history behind the names of each room. We had a friendly welcome and enjoyed a relaxing evening in the bar. We can’t wait to have a return visit.

Very nice place to stay, great in room selection of snacks, breakfast items, teas and coffees. Shame the restaurant wasn’t open on my visit but there is options in the town within a few minutes walk. Overall very very good.

8/10 Very good

Good stay, lovely pub, lovely lcoation, lovely room. Staff were great. Only negative was that there was a live band on that Monday night I stayed for a wake. I can't be helped, it may have just been nice to have been made aware of the band playing, so I could maybe get some ear plugs.
ADAM, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Room and bathroom, though small, are beautifully appointed and comfortable. The breakfast left in the room was excellent. The pub downstairs was very chaotic especially trying to get dinner. The outside security light makes the room too light during the night.

2/10 Poor

BOOK WITH CAUTION! The property is nice, and the staff on site were welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately, the pub does Karaoke (and didn't warn us in advance), and it was so noisy we couldn't even hold a conversation in our room, never mind sleep. The staff tried to be helpful on site but nothing could be done, so we didn't end up staying and went home instead. When we tried to raise the issue with the owner, they were very difficult to get hold of and refused to give the refund we were entitled to. Expedia eventually resolved the issue and gave the refund.

Beautiful but avoid Friday & Saturday

Beautiful building, stunning rooms & the staff are a credit to the business, especially Chris who keeps the rooms spotless. The reason for the one star rating is that due to it being a pub you will experience unbearable levels of noise due to the karaoke & dj on a Friday or Saturday. The rooms should be heavily discounted on those days. They do warn you that these events are on but you honestly there’s noise and then there’s noise which is so loud that items on the tables in the room actually shake from the bass! Earplug muffled it very slightly but not enough to be able to sleep until post 1am. Then at 8am the daily cleaning starts. If you’re staying mid week that would be perfect I should imagine.

6/10 Good

Could have been really nice but….

Quite a disappointing stay sadly. Nice character Inn but was told on arrival that they are not serving any food. I got 2 x emails advising there is karaoke on a Thursday night but they couldn’t advise that the restaurant was closed. The bedroom was lovely and I was aware of the breakfast hamper which was also good. However, the bathroom was the coldest room I have ever been in. There are 2 x radiators but none were working and I could literally see my breath. If my wife had been staying we would have left and asked for our money back it was that cold. The shower gel was jelly like and ice cold and I resorted to brushing my teeth standing in the bedroom. I expected it at night as quite a lot of places automatically reduce some heating areas overnight (hence why I didn’t move or leave) but it didn’t change in the morning. Please check before booking because it otherwise would have been quite nice (in spite of having to go back out to eat elsewhere).
