We have stayed at Sands Harbor Hotel for years due to its convenient marina, but our recent experience was disappointing. The hotel has undergone changes that aim to make it fancier, but it falls short. We booked a “Premier King Room” and it was not worth the extra charge. During our stay, we were woken up in the middle of the night by a party in the room next door, and the broken blinds allowed excessive light in. We were wrongly accused of smoking in our room, resulting in a $250 charge and being placed on a “no stay” list, despite not smoking there.
Additionally, we paid over $500 for 2 nights for what felt like a 2-star hotel experience, with parking fees of $25 per night and my family paid marina charges exceeding $900 for a week. The hotel’s amenities, including uncomfortable beds and overpriced drinks, do not justify their high rates. The new ownership needs to reassess their pricing and standards. We will not be returning and will be disputing the smoking charge.
