We enjoyed the location, the architecture of the older building and the clasic room design, including wood floors. Nespresso was nice to have. The condition of the room was not so great (sloppy painting/repairs, very wobbly bench, some lights didn't turn on, google cast nonfunctional) and the bed was not particularly comfortable, though the bedding itself was quite nice. Not long after check-in, a housekeeper opened the door without knocking and walked in on my husband changing. Not a huge deal, mistakes happen, we should have used the deadbolt. The front desk then called to ask if the room was "to our liking." We are not fussy and were already unpacked, so we just mentioned that the google cast feature on the TV didn't work. Weirdly, despite calling us, they expressed no intent to fix the problem and just repeated what was printed on the room's info card, as though we hadn't read it. Also, the front desk would not help to resolve a billing error at the in-hotel Rainspa (and when I went to resolve in person at the spa, it seemed that they called the front desk...). I'm chalking up the subpar room quality and service to the fact that we booked through X, rather than direct, and that it was just a standard room. If I booked again, I would go for a better room class and book direct. I will probably opt to try another hotel instead.
