After many years of attending this well appointed hotel finally i got an upgrade. The hotel is well situated for walks along Shakespeare's smug Trent. The Burton Bridge Brewery is over the road. Town centre a short walk. Parking more than adequate. I think if you can put up with the road noise of a weekend its one of the best hotels in town. Parking my confuse some as the hotel is on an island. Check during winter for flooding which can close the old bridge. Popular during the towns annual boating regatta.

Upon arrival we were slightly unnerved by some slightly unsavoury individuals who seemed to be just hanging around in the car park, and front entrance, whilst we had no interaction with them we rather hoped that it wasn't an indication of the type of hotel we had booked. However we were greeted at reception and promptly shown to our room through an indoor courtyard which housed a delightful pond and fountain. Our room was actually a suite, downstairs seating area complete with fridge, microwave and kettle, upstairs to bedroom and fantastic spacious bathroom with huge bath. All was clean with everything we needed. A very peaceful stay. We did decide to leave our car at our son's house snd hlad we did as when we returned to our hotel later there were more individuals outside the front entrance smoking and swearing amongst themselves but made us feel very uncomfortable coming back in the dark and having to walk through them. We now understand that the hotel is used to house the homeless so that explains why the people were there but for the price we paid we shouldn't feel unsafe upon entering. For this reason we wouldn't stay again.

Hotel looked tired & shabby from outside, but room was clean & spacious with a comfortable bed. Also had a fridge & microwave. It was great value for money & we would definitely book there again if in the area.

Cheap and cheerful

Well the hotel is definitely dated, but that adds character, staff were friendly and efficient, room was clean, which are the important things

The outside looked a bit scruffy but was clearly mid renovation. The inside was excellent with much character and we really enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. No food was served but plenty available within a very short walk.

Clean and safe place to stay

The staff is friendly. The room is clean and tidy. The overall condition is good. Just feel a bit annoyed about the vehicles with loud and roaring engines outside the road at night.
1-night trip

8/10 Very good

A place to sleep, not to stay.

You pay for what you get. It’s a place to stay the night. It wouldn’t take much more effort to keep it cleaner. I would stay again
craig, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

One night only.

Ok for a 1 night stop, hotel tired and needs updating. Bed not comfy. No Breakfast options.
Matthew, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Clearly the property had once had some class & style but now it seems quite run down and uncared for. Seems like it is being used more as a hostel than a proper hotel.
