It’s a No for Riu
My main issue is with the reception and management. If you use hotels.com, they act like you have a major problem and there is absolutely nothing they can do to accommodate your requests, ie any comps/concessions, even if said comp would be considered appropriate. The front desk staff have zero desire to help. I’ve never felt such a cold response from staff like I did there. They just don’t care because you already paid. I won’t be returning.
Aside from the front desk staff, the rooms are set up to view things like first level roofs and the loud road. The design of the building is bad with a lot of rooms with not so great views and long walks from the elevator. The warm tubs in the spa are pointless, as there is very little appeal to sitting in 86F pools. I’m not sure who thought that was a good idea.
The buffet is too pork heavy.
The lobby should be better air conditioned.
I would recommend going to a different hotel.
Room service is limited, ie don’t go ordering chicken wings on the menu, it’s only for the “elite” members. Thanks for making me feel special Riu. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose, this was a big loss for me($$$)
