Great location near Central Park, needs updating
Great location but hotel is run down. Our heater made so much noise we finally turned it off. The nightstand drawer would not stay closed. The shower was good, but the bathroom finishes were cheap and sloppy paint job & old fixtures. The beds were OK. The pillows were marginal and the wallpaper in the hallway is a little terrifying - some strange black prints in gold picture frames. Thousands of them! The hotel staff was very friendly and the location was excellent walking distance to Central Park.

Nice Area, Great Staff
Stayed here with family in early January, and it was nice. The staff is excellent, from the doormen to the valet to the front desk to even housekeeping and maintenance! They were all very helpful. The rooms are typically NY-small, but they are adequate. The only issue we had was we couldn't really adjust the heat to a higher setting; the room stayed about 68-69 degrees, and we wanted it a little bit warmer. But, we managed with blankets and comforters. The lobby is busy, and the elevators, also. The rooftop bar is really nice, and I recommend this property for a city stay away from tourist-areas.

I was in an extremely tiny room. The window shade didn't go up. The heater made regular grinding sounds. But hey, it was cheap!

Convenient location and good pr, but no amenities
Very good location and reasonable price. Basically no amenities- no coffee or restaurant. They offer bottles of water and a refrigerator. One evening didn’t even have any ice!

Decent hotel near Lincoln Center.
The Empire Hotel was very good overall. Great location, as we were going to Lincoln Center. Very clean. Room and bathroom were uncomfortably small. Room was too warm and I couldn't turn off the heat. Staff was friendly.

THE HEAT IS ON
My stay, per usual was great. The only minor detail is....I could not find the control for climate and room was very hot. STILL I was OK. (I did not call front desk because of the late hour. I just wanted to sleep). In the big picture, this was ok. Front desk was amazing as always. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GREAT!!

Looks nothing like in the photos. Dirty small room
I was pretty terrified when I walked into the room. It looked nothing like the pictures. It was dark. The curtail was torn and broken so I couldn’t pull it up to get light in. The furniture, carpet and walls were worn out. There were burn mark in the toilet. It was such a small room. The ambiance was reminiscent of a cheap motel. I only booked it for one night but I immediately knew I wasn’t going to be able to sleep there so I left.

Bedrooms need major makover
The bedrooms need a major makeover. Sink was almost falling off the wall in the bathroom. Everything looks tatty and old and it’s an old creaky building. Cant understand all the 5* reviews here after staying there. The manager was nice and I like this location in NYC. Wouldn’t stay here again though.

The beautiful roaster
It’s winter and very cold out. My nickname for th thermostat is the Roaster! It’s either roast or open th window and get stuffy noses. We had 3 rooms and all were th same. It’s an older hotel so some things are expected to be dated.bathrooms r very small. Staff very friendly/helpful
