Historic building on water close to shops and pubs
Historic property with great location on water. Walkable to all locations in town. Lovely helpful staff. Great restaurant below. Parking is about 2 blocks away in town car park lot so not so great lugging suitcases back and forth but daily rate was reasonable

Spent one night only, everything was fine. Parking was public quay-side carpark, less than 50meters away, which required an 8am top-up.

6/10 Good

Despite the good location, the property is dated and need refreshing all together. To be honest, customer’s service need to improve considerably right from reception through to dinning. We thought we would have dinner at the hotel on Saturday evening instead of eating out. The receptionist asked us to go to the dining room to be attended to at about 7:15pm, only to be told that the Head chef said the kitchen was closed. There were only few people eating at the time. We couldn’t believe it. So disappointed. The management top brass need to get grip of the situation, otherwise; the hotel will lose business to other hotels in that area!

2 day break
Staff lovely and welcoming Disappointed free parking actually is not and you have to park down road but it’s only 2 min walk and not too bad a price 11.00 For 48 hours I booked on Hotels.com and seemed to pay a lot for a really standard room actually booked a better room I thought? Room was small , shower room tiny, water pressure in shower awful toilet was making an awful noise no one came to look as requested Tv should be on wall opposite bed not above dressing table seemed a bit silly ? Breakfast was ok not a lot for veggies but partner enjoyed his Hotel Seems to need a bit of updating decorating Staff and location made up for it though

Dog friendly by the ocean
My husband and I had a fab visit with our dog. Location is spectacular, right next to the boats to Falmouth and a flat walk to a few nice pubs and restaurants or a takeaway fish and chip place. 1 minute walk to large car park (we paid £7 for 24 hours). Dont expect perfect (carpet worn in a couple of areas) but we really did have the most enjoyable stay in this hidden gem.

2/10 Poor

The bathroom was not cleaned upon our arrival, and we found a tea bag in the toilet, indicating that it hadn't been checked by the staff. We checked in around 9:30 pm, but despite the late hour, the room was still not cleaned. The shower drained poorly, and there was no hot water in the morning, forcing us to take ice-cold showers. While the male receptionist at night addressed the issues with the toilet, the lady at the reception in the morning was dismissive and didn't even listen to our concerns about the bathroom. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently close to the harbor. However, parking is outside and costs around 8 pounds per night.

Great Little hotel.
So, it's right in the middle of St Mawes and that's great. Hotel is fine, it's not stupidly up market thank goodness, we didn't want that, we wanted a nice friendly down to earth hotel with clean rooms in which you can be close to town and ferry and that is Exactly what we got. Rooms clean, bed comfortable, bathroom fine, shower adequate. Breakfast was lovely, coffee was awesome.. Its best to park in the Central car park, about 2 mins walk. Cheap too. And the quiet, laid back, relaxing vibe of both hotel and St Mawes was utterly welcome. We will be back.

4/10 Fair

The place was very old and the rooms could do with a makeover asap the shower was rubbish and the bathroom was dirty and dated. We asked at reception for extra coffee for the coffee machine and was told that they would bring some to our room but nothing arrived in my overall opinion the hotel itself is in a great location but the hotel needs a good makeover and better customer service

St Mawes
Had to wait nearly an hour to have the key for the room arrived 5.50pm, checked in on line prior to arrival with ETA 6pm ,not a great start, gave us a drink each as compensation, apparently they were short staffed. Room 208 South facing has the opening window screwed to the frame on each corner and as I've seen the same comments on previous reviews this has been like this sometime, it makes the room very warm and stuffy. Cant understand why the owners would not have the window repaired ? Evening meal was poor kept away the second evening. The good points friendly helpful staff, really nice buffet breakfast all you can eat and outstanding views of the harbour fantastic location, Carpark about 150 yards away ,Overnight parking 6pm till 8am only £1 and all day £6

Disappointed
The hotel is in a wonderful location, if you book a room with a sea view you really couldn't be much closer to the sea, the bed was comfortable and the room furnishings were reasonably good. Having said that there was a musty smell and the carpets were stained, there were cracks in the bathroom wall around the window which you could not open, only one window in the bedroom could be opened the other hand the handle removed and was screwed shut. We paid for a superior room with sea view, and as I say the view was superb, and the bed comfortable, the photos I had seen of these rooms had a balcony, it turns out that not all superior sea view rooms do though, so I felt a little misled. The breakfast is a buffet style with only scrambled eggs, although the chef offered to do me some fried eggs which was nice of him, the rest of the food was so so, only cornflakes, muesli and weetabix available for cereal, although there was also fruit and yoghurt, the coffee was nice. In short I would not go again unless this hotel went through an extensive refurb.
