Parsonage hotel
We stayed for my birthday on a two night stay on arrival we were given a cottage apartment away from the hotel which we hadn’t booked so after complaining we’re given a room in the annexe which was clean and comfortable the receptionist on arrival was not helpful at all with very limited information about the hotel The hotel needs a refurbishment and some of the staff were not friendly at all ( but not all)

Hotel needs updating
Staff looked sick of their life. Room was cold and radiator control broken so couldn’t turn it up . Waited on hold for 10 minutes to contact receptionist. Room was dated and tired. Hairdryer was faulted smelled of burning and screeching. Reported on check out. Spa was nice. Fat Abbot restaurant on site only served Sunday roast menu on Sunday so had to eat at Thai restaurant next door which was lovely.

Lovely food
The pub for dinner was lovely and the food portions were good. Hotel room was comfortable, pillows were a little tired. Very good power shower and a decent hairdryer. Good selection at breakfast and very tasty

6/10 Good

The room was located directly over the Friar Tuck pub. After consulting with reception regarding noise in the evening, I Was told music ends at 9pm. So no need to swap rooms. This wasn’t the case whatsoever as it finished as expected around 11.15pm. Reception wasn’t interested when informed!

Reception staff need customer service training!
The customer service at check in/check out was so poor I can only liken it to going through border control except even then I would receive eye contact from the guards! One of our party travelled separately and had exactly the same experience so sadly not a one off. This gave us a terrible first and last impression which is sad as not reflective of the rest of the staff we encountered during our stay who were all friendly, polite and efficient. Our room was spacious with comfy bed, the decor was a little tired and as per other reviews the bathroom had smashed floor tiles and clumsy repairs but the shower was hot and powerful. Breakfast was great and we liked the buffet style. The spa and pool was an added bonus and the main reason I booked this hotel along with the convenient location.

Lovely stay
Was a lovely stay, we really enjoyed the size of the room, the breakfast and the facilities. Only downside for us, is we had to walk through 2 seperate weddings to get to our room which made us feel awkward and rude. Would suggest a seperate entrance for hotel guests. Also TV would be better if we were able to use the smart TV functions.

Highly recommended
We both really enjoyed our visit this week, particularly the spa and the breakfast both of which are of a really high standard. As guests we both felt very welcome, the room was good and well cared for, the walls were not too sound proof but that guest in the other room wasn't making a noise late at night so it wasn't an inconvenience. If i was to make a suggestion it would be to allow the use of the spa a couple of hours before the 2pm check in as this would have made our stay perfect 👌

Tired & dated room
Room was quite dated & basic for the price. I was put in the lodge where the walls are paper thin as the person in the next room was snoring & it was like they were in my room with me, also a tv was on in the room next door at 7am so not much sleep, breakfast was average. Tired drive back to London

Reasonably good
Hotel was busy and full on the Saturday as it also hosted a wedding. We were located in the coach house away from the main building which was fine. Breakfast was friendly service and plentiful

2/10 Poor

Not fit for purpose
We arrived with expectations of coming to a 4* hotel after looking at your web page on Hotels.com. It soon became apparent that the room 12 allocated was nothing like we were expecting. The room was dark, dingy and cold. There were issues with the room and we complained to 2 members of staff and asked to be moved. This we were told was not possible due to a wedding party taking up most of the hotel. Because we were with family, who were allocated a room of better standard we stayed. We soon heard running water, which transpired to be a problem with the toilet cistern, your members of staff didn’t have a clue how to fix this and getting a plumber wasn’t available. My husband temporarily fixed this. The lourve doors were ineffective for a bathroom and dangerous. The shower screen did not fit correctly to the bath and water leaked through and on to the floor, after climbing out I slipped on the wet floor before realising water was there. There was no hot water from the taps, no heating if you required, although it would not have worked as there was no rad valve on. The windows were not secure with parts missing. The shower isolator switch pull cord is missing, which is against electricity regulations for a hotel. This room is certainly not worth the £144 we paid. We then complained again at reception on checkout, as it was a different person, she told us to write the faults down as she could do nothing as no manager available.
