Osaka and related destinations

Between the neon-lit Dotonbori district and majestic Osaka Castle lies a city that takes food more seriously than most nations take foreign policy. The covered arcades of Nipponbashi offer everything from manga to electronics, while locals debate which street vendor makes the definitive takoyaki. Universal Studios Japan delivers theme park thrills, but the real adventure happens at Kuromon Market where vendors slice fish with surgical precision. The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan houses whale sharks in tanks so vast you'll question your place in the universe. After dark, join salary men unwinding over kushikatsu – deep-fried skewers that demand respect for the 'no double-dipping' rule.

"Brand new hotel near Shin Osaka station. A little bit of a walk thank goodness it wasn't raining. Lawson's 2 minutes away. Didn't interact with the staff except during check in. Nice new and clean. Public bath was nice and large and dressing room had great air-conditioning which helps cool you down after a bath. Only stayed for one night but would return if ever in Osaka. "Amazing hotel!!! We stayed four nights and it was the best hotel of our trip to Japan! The location and all the amenities were fantastic : the incredible breakfast, the happy hour with free wine, drinks and food. It really feels like a luxurious hotel. The only con is the size of the room but it shouldn't stop you from choosing this hotel. The bed is very comfortable and the room is very beautiful. I would go back without thinking."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Osaka

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Osaka is during January, February, and September, when hotel prices may drop, offering great value for money. For those looking to explore the city's rich landmarks, cultural attractions, and historical sites, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration allows visitors to enjoy shopping, visit the impressive Osaka Castle, dine at local eateries, and explore museums, theatres, and the renowned aquarium, ensuring a fulfilling experience without stretching the budget.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For your trip to Osaka, you may discover enticing offers by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com, where discounted hotel rates are sometimes available. If you're planning a spontaneous trip, the Last-Minute Deals section could help you find savings on accommodations close to your travel date. Additionally, using the Smart Shopping tool via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, keeping you updated if rooms become available or if prices drop, so you’re more likely to secure a last-minute getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may differ depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in an Osaka hotel. For those interested in unique experiences, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised service and sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will indicate if the price for your chosen dates is above or below average, and if it appears higher, we may suggest alternative dates that could offer a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated in close proximity to the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Osaka's superb public transport links, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that is still well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
