never stayed there, great customer service.
The Hotel had plumbing problems, so as we walked in we were transferred to another hotel. The City hotel provided the taxi and the alternative accommodation (Hotel am Zoo, to which the ratings refer) very smoothly and promptly. The new Hotel was one stop away on the Ubahn, so given that we were getting around town using a tageskarte (one day travel pass) this made no difference and we found a brilliant local café for breakfast over the road, which we would never have discovered otherwise. So while we never actually stayed in the City hotel, we can say their customer service was first rate.

2/10 Poor

Noisy part of town, didnt feel safe.
The hotel I booked was to start with very expensive, old, had a water leak in the bathroom all over the floor and smelt like a chimney. It was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life. From about 3am the patrons from the various strip clubs across the road decided that standing out side of our window talking at top voice would be fine. Following this at 4am the hotel emptied bins and took beer bottles out to the bin also outside of our window. Then at around 5 am the delivery drivers started arriving with the days goods to deliver. There were drug affected people hanging around all night to which I would not be comfortable allowing my partner or certainly any children go near by them selves. My partner and I have generally had good experiences with your service but this one was completely unexceptable and unforgivable. You should be doing a bit more research on the properties you are recommending. It was disgusting.

Not for the family
The condition of the room itself is worthy of a 3-star rating. The room and bathroom were clean. The bathroom had a VERY small shower; there was barely enough room to wash, and I'm only 5'5". The beds were too soft and "squishy". Checking in was a near disaster. The hotel did NOT have our booking in their system and they were fully booked. We had to wait almost an hour before they could get a room for us; to the hotel's credit, they did finally give us a room instead of turning us away. Moreover, we booked this particular hotel because it allowed dogs (per hotels.com), but on our second day, the manager (who was different from the person who checked us in) caused a fuss and told us we couldn't have dogs! The hotel's neighborhood was akin to a ghetto. Lots of questionable characters hung out on the curb in front of the hotel entrance ALL day and night, smoking, drinking alcohol, and who knows what else given that there is a brothel across the street. Two police officers came by around 2pm to usher them away, but the loiterers returned shortly thereafter. It was a 60+ degree day, so with no AC in the room, we opened the window only to have cigarette smoke wafting in, making our non-smoking room a veritable smoking room. The only reason I am not rating this hotel a "1" is because they tried very hard to accommodate us upon check-in despite not having a room reserved for us and the rate was fair given that most hotels in Frankfurt at this time were triple this rate or higher.

Huge room at a great price
I think these used to be small apartments and now converted to hotel rooms. In any case, the room was huge, very quiet, and well equipped. The Wifi was a bit slow, but I was there for fun, not for work, so it was OK. This is just on the east side of downtown and only a block from Ziel (main shopping street) and the KonstablerWache S-Bahn so very easy to walk Old Town, Dom, the river, dinner, night-life, etc, or S-bahn to the rest of Frankfurt area. I will definitely stay here again.

good location...for a man
the hotel is rated based on the price and expectations. It's two block from the Zeil which is great and to the subway. the rooms are a pretty good size and I had no problems there. the location, for frankfurt standards, could feel uncomfortable for women as there are a couole of male establishments and male hangouts. so it could feel a little unsafe. again, it's close to the subway and zeil so probably is ok. hotel staff wasn't friendly but did her job. also the hitel front desk and door closes after a certain hour so you need to use the backdoor. so it also makes it feel weirder. not sure this is year round but I am thinking it is.

I would not stay here again.
This hotel is not located very close to the train station as another reviewer claimed... it's about a 25 minute walk and it is indeed a red light district. While the room itself was reasonably clean, the bathroom was awful: the walls were painted but badly and stained. Also there was mildew on the shower tiles. The worst part however was the noise. There are two bars with outdoor seating below the hotel and patrons were there drinking and making noise until at least 5 AM. We closed the windows but that did nothing except to cut off the cool air (warning: no A/C!). We slept for 90 minutes from 5:30 to 7 AM at best. The staff was friendly but unless the hotel sprouts wings and moves elsewhere, I can't recommend it.

Apart from the live area opposite, this is a good hotel to stay especially for persons travelling with friends. Would not recommend the place for families.

Very good location but be aware at night
I booked a single room but this one wasn't a smoking roomwhich i knew it. When i got there i requested for a smoking room and the lady at the reception upgraded me to an apartment of 3 single beds which is in the other building. I really appreciated her. The hotel is in a very good location, but you must be aware at night ESPECIALLY ladies. You do not feel safe at night otherwise its a good hotel with a good location. And yes the wifi is free. Enjoy. :)

Unfriendly
I checked in on a Thursday, the young lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. But the rest of the time all my interaction with the hotel staff was very unfriendly and they made you feel like you owe them something. I asked for my room to be cleaned and it was not, then I asked the receptionist for 3 towels and she said how many people, so u need 3 towels...instead of saying sorry they did not make up your room. Also their single room has a very small bed designed for a kid. I asked them to give me a room with a larger bed, they did which was nice. The furniture in the room you could write your name on it,was very dusty. Location was perfect though. Also it was laoud until the wee hours..

NOT BAD...
Stayed there one night. There is not much parking. It's in a pretty run-down neighborhood; complete with brothel, adult entertainment on 3 corners, and the knock-em-down drag-em-out pub is right next door. There was some renovating happening when we stayed so I wont make a fuss about the condition. The door to our room appeared to have been damaged from what appeared to be forced entry. Not sure if was the hotel staff trying to get into the room or if the room had been breached by a thief, but the door, the handle, and the locks appeared to be damaged. It's perfect for an over-night business stay, but I wouldnt vacation there. Unless you intend to frequent the brothel behind the hotel.

The excellent hotel for a short stay
The first what should be mentioned is the excellent location of this hotel: 5 minutes walking distance from a major shopping area of the town and from the railway/metro station from where you can easily reach the airport (there are trains every 15 minutes from 5 am to 12 am, and the journey to/from the airport takes 17 minutes). Also: 15 minutes walking distance from the historical downtown and major touristic attractions, 20 minutes walking distance from the business part of the downtown. There are also many restaurants near by. The staff was very friendly and polite. There is the excellent breakfast available from 7 to 10 am. There is a free wireless Internet available, just when too many people use the network around 9-10 pm, the signal becomes week. There are some minor disadvantages (too old furniture and TV, there is no air conditioner, however this can be a problem only when it is too hot, which is not so usual for Frankfurt; also there is a noise coming from a couple of bars right near by the hotel). However, a great location is a very big plus! Another great advantage is a price. If you book in advance, you get a perfect price, which is about twice lower than in any modern hotel in the same area.

Close to main street
The hotel was very close to the main shopping street and the old city. It is also only 5min (300m) from the subway line coming from the airport. Overall, the rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. The only part that we did not like was the surrounding neighborhood. There were "dance" clubs across the street and the night life continued until 4-5am. On the flip site, there were a few restaurants that were open late and on weekends.
