I actually spoke with my wife about Japan and if we had the ability to retire or move to Japan we would move to Hiroshima. The city has everything that Tokyo has but is at a calmer and easier pace, AND momiji manju is the best... and Miyajima Island

Hiroshima is very tourist friendly. English signs and announcements on public transportation and at sight seeing spots. Stores and museums often have employees who can speak English, and the locals are very nice and welcoming visitors.

Central Hiroshima is easily walkable and you can get many places by using the trams and buses with Google Maps. Miyajima Island is a must. Hiroshima Station is the best place to get souvenirs. Many restaurants require reservations here.

Well worth a visit! We spent an afternoon at the Peace Park and Museum, visited Shikkui-en Garden, and took the ferry to Miyajima Island. The city is clean and easy to get around, the people were nice, and the food was great.

Miyajima Island and the floating shrine is a must see! There are tame deer on this island, just like Nara but not as many deer. I could have spent a few days there. If you like oysters, Hiroshima is the place to visit!

Surprised by how modern and lovely the city was. The museum was astounding, powerful. On the other end of the spectrum, we enjoyed our drink on the top floor and the amazing views!

An amazing city to visit. The horrors of the nuclear bomb, the history, the way Hiroshima is a world leader for peace all blend together to create an unforgettable experience.

We visited the Peace Museum. We also stumbled on a recitation of memoirs of the bombing which were read in English. Very moving. We also had a wonderful day out at Miyajima
"New, clean and well staffed hotel at Hiroshima station Impressive, but pricey restaurant, but no on-site laundry. Quick and easy check in. Lobby employee gave directions to Jab Jab Wash 3 blocks outside station. 7-11 right outside station entrance to hotel. Room was clean and had a small sitting area and functional bathroom. Beside bus and trolley station adds convenience. "
"The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a perfect location. You will find the peace memorial park a few minutes walking from the hotel. We will definitely come back and stay there."
