The first night left a bad taste in our mouth. The moment the door opened, we saw that the room was not up to the expected standards based on reviews and ratings (a. 32" TV was ~32cm; b. toilet had conditioner and soap but not shampoo; c. was told that the hotel does not provide hair dryer when requested; d. no hot water in the mixer). Taking reference from the hotel's replies to other unsatisfactory reviews here, we raised the issues with the hotel and requested for a room change. They were very reluctant and the way the lady put it was very rude (i.e. "you want to change room just for the TV?!") We eventually got our room change and it was way better. Even the difference in the bed quality can be felt. However, we spotted cockroach nymphs a number of times in the toilet and the TV console. Maybe it's from the straw deco. The hot water mixer in our replacement room was also very erratic. It goes from cold to very hot within seconds, and back again. Might be a leaky cold water inflow to it. The hotel should really do a comprehensive QC on their rooms. However, stellar service at the end as the staff offered us a complimentary room just for us to bathe before our overnight bus. We were in a rush so we rejected it. Nonetheless, the gesture was very heartwarming.
