Fantastic location right next to the beach

Some apartments are dated, others are renovated. If you get a renovated room, they are much better. Great location by the beach.

Ocean view stay

This is a lovely small resort right on Smiths Beach. The room was newly renovated, very clean and comfortable. Even though you probably won't want to leave Smiths Beach for long, Canal Rocks is a great base for exploring the area being very close to Yallingup and many wineries. It was very difficult to leave yesterday morning. We'll be back!

A top spot

We stayed in the one bedroom executive apartment on the ground floor - smaller than the other apartments but perfect for a couple. It was next door to the office (open from 8.30-5) but that made no difference - we didn’t hear a peep. The apartment is quite new and very modern with a well equipped kitchen and plentiful supplies of soaps etc to keep you going. A magical spot directly opposite the beach with views over the ocean - a lovely place to sit with a wine or beer bought from one of the many nearby wineries or breweries and watch the whales frolicking.

Apartments with a view

We came with another couple and our 7 week old baby for 2 nights as we had a wedding to attend to in the area - Modern, clean and comfortable - Beds were very comfortable and one of the only places that offered two bedrooms both with queen sized beds (rather than one being twin only), great as we were travelling with another couple and not children! - Great amenities including a laundry. Only thing I potentially would have liked was an iron and iron board (I looked but couldn't find one - at the end of the day not a necessity) - Portacot and Cot bedding was provided on request. It would have been nice to have the Cot already set up for us, but as these are apartments not a hotel certainly not expected or necessary - Staff were very helpful with suggesting nearby places to go and helping my husband when he needed to print something - Spectacular location with a great view of the beach. Would be wonderful in summer but we enjoyed it just as much in spring! Overall we were very happy with the experience and would return again

This was the perfect location to relax and enjoy the WA sunshine, beautiful beach and stunning canal rocks. From our balcony we watched dolphins swimming in the ocean and kangaroos feeding in the neighbouring nature reserve.

Close to the beach

Our room is downstairs, so the water view is ok but not great. Also, couple in next unit enjoyed their drink at the front yard, their talking and laughing were annoyed. I think the water view at upstairs should be good. The TV set in the room was a bit high up when watching from the couch. The bottom and the sides inside the kettle was filthy. The tissues was full of black stain when I wiped it. I had to wipe it and clean it with boiling water thoroughly before using it. We did not use the microwave but I could see inside along the top rims were covered with food splashes. Yak. The room rate was not cheap. The cleaning problem stated above was worse than motels standards in Australia.

Good location but inflexible staff

Great location and nice partial views. But to be honest, the management of the hotel was far to inflexible and added an unnecessary amount of stress to our stay. Our family had booked another room in the hotel and they were persistent they weren't allowed to check in at midday to prepare for a wedding in the afternoon after a 30hr travel from London. Even though the room wasn't being used the night before they still couldn't confirm and required multiple calls and visits to reception to plead with them. Whilst last minute they let them use the room early, we had wasted 2 days and stress preparing other family in the area to let them use an area to get ready. They said they get it all the time with weddings and brushed us off very rudely - so basically, if you are in MR for a wedding and need the proficient service of a legit hospitable hotel then probably wise to steer clear and leave your stress for something more warranted whilst on holidays.....

Nice beachfront apartment with spectacular views of the sea and Smith's Beach. Walking distance to Canal Rocks and beautiful beach just in front. Apartments are clean and well-equipped.

Clean, tidy and in the most amazing location!

I can honestly say the location of our apartment left me speechless! The drive down the hill and to the apartment was stunning. Apartment was clean and tidy with everything we needed for our short but sweet stay. 6 adults had more than enough space and there wasn't a negative word said amongst us. We all absolutely loved our stay at Canal Rocks.

Everything is fine but not the wifi.

Choose this hotel if you like the beachfront view. Room facilities and condition is okay and staff is pleasant and friendly. But if wifi is critical to you, it will be a great disappointment.

There is no better view of Smiths Beach

Nothing beats the view... the only down side would be that it's pretty isolated so you have to drive somewhere for dinner (unless you're happy with the overpriced Lamonts restaurant next door). But you can always self-cater if you're into that. It would be nice to be able to pre-order a hamper so that some basics were already there in arrival... say bread, butter, spreads, milk, eggs, yoghurt etc. Other than that, I struggle to find fault.

Convenient and excellent price. Very very clean

Went for a wedding and had a beautiful weekend. Weather was great and had a room facing rhe beach and barbecues outside our door with grass areas for children to play. Could walk straight to the beach from our apartment.

Beachfront and brilliant

We stayed 2 nights in Apartment 13 on the second floor. The unit is at the end of the estate so there is more privacy. Being on the second floor, there is a better view of the ocean than being on the ground floor. The beach is just across the road and there is usually between 1 to 4 kangaroos in the back lawn. We had great walks around the area. My family totally enjoyed ourselves.

Comfy beds... ocean views.

Just wish I had of checked the booking confirmation as it does say downstairs room although all the pictures are of views from the top floor rooms so this was a little disappointing. But it was still beautiful. Friendly staff, super comfy beds, good shower and products, great kitchen.

Great loction but just far enough away from town. The gas log fire in the room is just what you need on the cold nights.
