We were robbed, room was unsafe, window lock was broken, thieves broke into room in the middle of the night, terrible, money purses wallets handbags stolen from 1st floor apartment. Really upset us, ruined the holiday. Didn’t the hotel have some sort of duty of care that our room should have been safe, we could have been attacked/killed??
Management were horrendous, told us it had never happened before. Hotel initially told us they had no proof,there are footprints on external walls as they climbed in, handprints on external window frames, camera in hotel grounds, hotel then sent maintenance next morning when we were out, told us the window was not faulty, 4 people checked the windows on the morning after the robbery, it would not lock. Today I was told 1st floor apartments are having burglar railings installed on 1st floor rooms. Hotel told me to claim my losses through my travel insurance.WHY?? This was the hotels duty of care to have us in a secure room with working locks on the windows. I have to question in a resort of this size that a robber knew to climb to my first floor terrace to my window thst didn’t lock to rob us when there we’re probably 100 first floor rooms to climb to?? Seems like a inside job that someone knew our window didn’t lock??
