My room was the same one I had four years ago, which I still like. However, the only way to adjust the (sometimes) overbearing heat was to open the window, which would wake me up freezing a couple of hours later. What really ruined my week was in the "something else" category: Part of the building which used to house only The Jane Hotel has been rented to a party company and events are held there most evenings. One night, about two hours after I had gone to sleep, I was suddenly awakened by the loud sound of some large wooden object hitting the other side of the wall adjacent to my bed. I opened my door and saw people carrying wooden tables and chairs into the room to store. They apologized for awakening me. One of them said she just needed five more minutes (which ended up being 30 minutes) until 2:10am. As it turns out, they were from the party company, not the hotel. I reported it to the front desk the next morning. The desk clerk promised to take care that it would not happen again. At the end of the week, on my seventh and last night, it happened again, only later, and louder, with different workers. This time one of them said "Look, I have to do my work." and "We're going to finish."

Pretty bad. The heating is all tied into one boiler so the room was like a sauna. They told me to open the window (in Dec) and turn on the AC (which didn't work). Also, the grand lobby is no longer a part of the Jane. Sounds like some private equity company bought it.

We loved staying here! It was a very unique experience, in a very historic place of New York City. It’s not like your typical hotel and that’s what makes it special. It’s an experience.

Everything but temperature was great. Front desk people lovely. re temp. temp was so high that to sleep I had to leave window open and fan on. Would appreciate access to an ice machine but otherwise. happy and will return and recommend

Room was really a lot smaller than the images in the web site. View this as poor communications on your part! Desk clerk ay check in was not really very courteous, as if we were interfering with his day! No explanation of the use of the key and room light activator rod!! Bathroom was clean.

Charming area within Greenwich Village! The neighborhood is walkable and safe! Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Only one elevator so can be a little slow getting to your room on the street level.

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and discovered bed bugs on night 4. We have photos as proof. Despite this, staff initially dismissed our concerns and only moved us to a new room after we insisted. They later steamed our belongings, but only after repeated requests. Because of this incident, one of us missed an important professional concert opportunity, which was a major reason for visiting. This was extremely disappointing and had real career consequences. The hotel staff told us they could only refund two nights because the reservation was made through Hotels.com. We confirmed directly with Hotels.com and with a hotel industry professional that this is not true. The hotel lied to us. Even after acknowledging photo evidence of bed bugs, they refused to take responsibility for the full stay. The situation caused significant stress, worry about bringing bed bugs home (which can cost thousands to eliminate), and major disruption to our trip. We are now dealing with steam-cleaning and freezing luggage to avoid contamination. A hotel should never: • deny evidence of bed bugs • mislead guests about refund rights • do the bare minimum only after pressure We are requesting a full refund, as we did not receive the service we paid for, and the stay was significantly impacted. Avoid this hotel. Not only because of bedbugs, but because of how poorly they handled the situation.

I stayed in The Jane Hotel countless times between 2008 and 2023. It was quirky and always an interesting time. I knew that the property sold a couple of years ago and a private club was taking over the public spaces. I waited for the transition to be completed and decided that last weekend would be the right time to revisit my old haunt, so to speak. Sadly, I have no words to accurately describe what is happening there now. It is not business as usual as the hotel website pictures suggest. Yes they send an email prior stating that there is construction in the area (I guess across the street as the hotel project seems complete). Staying there now feels like you are paying to sleep in the middle of the staging area for the private club, complete with employees chatting, laughing, banging and scrambling throughout the new hotel entrance and hallways. Some hotel rooms are used for offices and others are used for storage. The entire weekend a clothing rack was placed adjacent to the elevator, limiting passage for the guests and the employees (breaking fire code?). There was no regard for the guests paying to sleep in nearby rooms. Even the basics were a hot mess - there was little little to no hot water the entire time I was there, the fire alarm repeatedly sounded one night, and I understand that internet and elevator services have been intermittent in the past as well.

The images used in hotels.com are deceiving, as the rooms are the size of a train suite, extremely small. Beware if you’re traveling with family. Water in showers was not hot enough. Not ADA friendly.
